School Rules and Guidelines 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

SCHOOL RULES<\/strong>
\nThe School\u2019s discipline system is a mixture of corrective measures, guidance and a merit system e.g. positive effort\/good conduct\/ punctuality\/excellence and other positive behaviour and talents are rewarded.<\/p>\n

The School Uniform <\/strong>
\nThe uniform must be worn each day of school.
\nShoes: White low cut sneakers with laces and no colour markings
\nSocks: White with no colour markings to be worn 2 inches above the ankle Skirt: Grey Skirt – must be purchased from the school
\nLength of skirt must be 3 inches below knee
\nShirt: Specially designed white shirt must be purchased from the school Tie: Tie with appropriate house colour to be worn by each student
\nUndergarments: Only white vests (designed for girls) with black undergarments are to be worn under shirt.
\nStudents must reflect the values of the school once they are in school uniform both in and out of school. The fabric for the skirt is specially ordered by our Training Centre and is not available elsewhere. Please do not buy imitations. <\/p>\n

Uniform guidelines: <\/strong>
\n1. Do not change the design and colour of the uniform. In the event that a child has the incorrect uniform, the parent must write and attach his\/her signature to an excuse explaining the reason(s) for the incorrect uniform. The excuse must be submitted to the Dean or Form Teacher for signature before the student enters official classes.
\n2. Physical Education and Theatre Arts uniforms must be worn for all practical sessions. Jerseys are to be worn inside of pants.
\n3. Uniforms are to be cleaned and ironed regularly.
\n4. A simple wristwatch (black, gold or silver) is to be worn to school. No more than one inch and one quarter in diameter.
\n5. One pair of small gold or silver circular shaped ear stoppers are to be worn on the lower lobe only (see school for sample of appropriate size). No gem stones are allowed. No other forms of jewellery allowed e.g. rings, necklaces, bracelets, hand-bands.
\n6. Hairstyles must be simple, neat and worn away from the face. Ornaments worn in the hair must be functional and only black in colour (no ribbons, headbands and bandeaus are allowed). Students are also not permitted to have artificial hair colouring or colourful braids. Combing of hair during school hours is prohibited.
\n7. Braided hair should be of reasonable length (no longer than mid back) and thickness.
\n8. No markings of the skin (tattoos) or scalp engravings are permitted.
\n9. Hats and other forms of headwear are not to be worn on the school compound unless for religious\/health reasons.
\n10. Students are permitted to wear only one religious item while on the school compound. The authenticity of religious significance must be certified by the parent\/guardian and the religious leader in writing. Items must be discreetly worn.
\n11. Make-up e.g. eye liner, eyebrow pencil, mascara, nail polish, lip gloss, lip-stick and any other form of beauty cosmetics are not to be worn with the school uniform. Nails must be kept short. Hair equipment e.g. Hair Gels, curling irons must not be brought on the school compound.
\n12. Handkerchiefs, rags and bandannas are not allowed.
\n13. Sweaters are not to be worn during assembly or around the waist during school hours.<\/p>\n

Punctuality and Regularity <\/strong>
\n1. Students are required to be at school by 7.45 a.m. when the first bell goes. At the sound of the second bell at 7:55 a.m. students will participate in assembly. There must be silence after the bell.
\n2. Official classes commence at 8.20 a.m. for the morning session and ends at 11:35 a.m. At 12.35 p.m. the afternoon session begins, preceded by Assembly and Roll Call. Morning and Afternoon Assemblies are compulsory for all students.
\n3. Any student who arrives at school during official classes is to report directly to the Administrative Office where her name and arrival time will be recorded. The student must present a note explaining her tardiness to the office. A latecomer pass will then be issued to the student to be presented to the teacher of the class in progress. No latecomer will be allowed to enter any class without the required permission slip.
\n4. Written excuses must be done on a whole page of writing paper, placed in an envelope and addressed to the Principal or teacher and must be given to the Form Teacher the first day the student returns to school after being absent. In the case of prolonged absenteeism (in excess of one week) the student must be accompanied by a parent on her return to school.
\n5. All assignments must be handed in to the relevant teacher at the stipulated date and time. Late assignments will have marks deducted at the discretion of the teacher.
\n6. Students who are required to leave the school compound during school hours must be accompanied by a parent\/guardian (only) who must have proper photo identification. Parent or guardian must present ID and sign the Early Departure Book. Early departures must be authorized by either the Principal\/Vice Principal\/Dean\/Form Teacher before the student can leave the school compound. <\/p>\n

General rules: <\/strong>
\n1. Students are expected to cover and properly label their books and keep them neat and clean.
\n2. All students must do homework assignments. If a student is unable to complete an assignment, a valid written excuse from the parent\/guardian must be sent to the teacher.
\n3. Reports must be signed by parents\/guardians and returned to school no later than one week after receipt. Forging a signature is a criminal offence.
\n4. No purchases are to be made from the cafeteria during class hours.
\n5. Furniture must not be removed from the classroom without the permission and supervision of a teacher. Any furniture removed is not to be left on the corridors but returned to the respective classroom.
\n6. Tables, desks or rails are not to be used as chairs. Teachers\u2019 desks and chairs are strictly off limits to students.
\n7. Graffiti is strictly prohibited. Students must not write on white boards unless instructed.
\n8. Throwing of powders, missiles, water or any other articles\/substance are strictly forbidden.
\n9. All forms of pornography are strictly forbidden.
\n10. Students are expected to be respectful to each another and all members of teaching and non-teaching staff.
\n11. The use of obscene language while in school uniform is strictly prohibited.
\n12. Respect for the personal property of others must be adhered to. Theft of money or personal items of another is a criminal offence.
\n13. Cell phones should be switched off before entering the school premises and remain off for the balance of the school day unless authorized for use by a teacher. The school will not be held responsible for loss or damage to such items.
\n14. Conduct on buses, maxi taxi or cars must be exemplary. Loud singing, dancing, playing, fighting or improper conversations will not be accepted.
\n15. The use of weapons, illegal drugs, and fighting inside and outside the school compound are forbidden and warrant immediate suspension.
\n16. Chewing of gum, smoking, drinking of alcoholic beverages, using fire crackers, gambling and card playing are absolutely forbidden both in and off the school compound.
\n17. Loitering along the Administrative block, corridors, water outlets or in the washroom areas are strictly forbidden. No student should be found on the corridors, sitting on the benches or loitering in other parts of the compound while classes are in progress.
\n18. Students will be allowed to see visitors (parents\/guardians) in the office ONLY. No visitor will be allowed beyond the office area without permission.
\n19. Any student found outside the school during school hours, dressed in the school uniform without the necessary authorization may be interrogated by the police.
\n20. The Administration reserves the right to deal with infractions not identified as it sees fit.
\nTo avoid use of clothing apparel by other students, especially when changing for Physical Education, all clothing should be marked with the student\u2019s name on the inside hem with permanent marker or embroidered on. <\/p>\n
